WILD FALL TO PRIDE IN FIRST LOSS OF THE SEASON
Canadian Wild come up short in game 3 against the USSSA Pride
Marion, IL (June 8, 2019) - The Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois dropped a 6-2 decision against the USSSA Pride on Saturday night. The loss snapped the Wild's eight game winning streak to start the NPF season.
For the second straight game, the Pride opened the scoring in the first inning. With Amanda Lorenz on first after a lead-off single, Nicole Dewitt doubles to right centre, scoring her from first.
The Wild responded in the bottom of the second, taking the lead thanks to a two-run single from Natalie Wideman. Wideman came to the plate with the bases loaded and singled to right center, scoring Jennifer Gilbert from third and Janet Leung from second.
The lead wouldn't last long, as the Pride would add single runs in the third and fourth to take the lead they wouldn't relinquish. Two runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh sealed the deal.
The Wild pushed to even up the score, getting runners on base in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth, but they couldn't push find a way to push those runs across.
The Wild look to once again lock down a series win when game four of the five game series between the two teams goes on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. CT from Rent One Park.
